Ask the midwife

Qualified midwife coaching support · between NHS appointments

Ours is a midwife of thirty years, serving families in the local community — and the dedicated voice behind every word of guidance on this site. Write to her and the team, and you'll get the same warmth and honesty she brought to three decades of birth rooms.

Three decades beside families from every culture and background in our community have given her a rare window into the traditions of motherhood around the world — the inspiration behind our ever-evolving Around the World collection, which grows as she discovers more.

General information only — not a diagnosis or personalised medical advice. This guide cannot assess you or your baby. Contact your midwife, maternity unit, health visitor, GP or NHS 111 for individual advice. Call 999 in an emergency. Read our health information disclaimer.

Before you write — please read this. Replies from our team are general guidance and kind, experienced thoughts — they are never a diagnosis, treatment or personalised medical advice, and they are not a substitute for your own midwife, doctor or maternity unit, who know you and your notes. If you are worried about yourself or your baby — including any change in your baby's movements — contact your maternity unit or NHS 111 straight away, day or night. Call 999 in an emergency. Nothing you send here creates a patient–professional relationship, and urgent concerns should never wait for a reply.

Crescent Midwife Coaching — support between appointments

Your NHS appointments remain the centre of your maternity care. Between them, our private coaching programmes give you unhurried time with a midwife of thirty years to talk through questions, prepare for what comes next and feel more confident about what to raise with your care team.

Sessions are held virtually — by video or phone, wherever you are — which suits every one of these programmes. The only exception is anything needing hands-on care, which always belongs with your own midwife or maternity unit, in person.

Birth preparation

One-to-one sessions to walk through the birth you're hoping for, the things that can change, and how you'd like to feel on the day.

Feeding, from the first feed

Calm, unhurried support for feeding your way — breast, bottle or both — from a midwife who has helped thousands of first feeds.

The fourth trimester

Those tender, sleepless early weeks. Someone experienced to check in with while you heal, rest and find your feet.

A calm first year

A steady companion through the first twelve months — the questions between check-ups, answered with thirty years of gentle honesty.

Private programmes complement NHS maternity care; they never replace it. Coaching is not clinical assessment, diagnosis or treatment, and urgent concerns should always go to your own midwife, doctor or maternity unit first, day or night.
