Please read before using our guidance
Health information disclaimer
This page explains what our guidance can and cannot do, and how to get the right help for you and your baby.
Do not use this website in an emergency
Call 999 if someone is in immediate danger, has severe difficulty breathing, collapses, has a seizure, is unresponsive, or you think there is a life-threatening emergency. Contact your maternity unit immediately for reduced or changed fetal movements; do not wait until the next day. For urgent help that is not life-threatening, contact your care team or NHS 111.
General information, not medical advice
Bump to Baby provides general educational information for people preparing for pregnancy, during pregnancy, after birth and through a baby’s first year. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, monitoring or a substitute for an assessment by a qualified healthcare professional. Using this website does not create a clinician–patient relationship.
Questions answered by our guide
Our question companions use automated technology and an approved set of UK guidance. They may misunderstand a question, omit relevant context or provide information that is incomplete or out of date. They cannot examine you or your baby, access medical records, diagnose a condition, rule out a condition or decide whether it is safe to wait. Do not rely on an automated answer to make an urgent or important healthcare decision.
Get individual advice
Always follow the advice of your own midwife, maternity unit, obstetric team, health visitor, GP, pharmacist or other qualified professional. Contact them if you have symptoms, concerns, questions about medicines or supplements, or if information here conflicts with advice from your care team. Never start, stop or change a medicine because of this website.
Products and external links
Product descriptions and links are informational and are not endorsements that an item is safe or suitable for you or your baby. Check age, allergy, safety and usage information with the manufacturer and an appropriate professional. External websites control their own content; a link does not make Bump to Baby responsible for that content.
Accuracy and changes
We use recognised UK sources and aim to keep information accurate, but health guidance and individual circumstances change. We do not promise that every page is complete, error-free or current at every moment. Source links and review dates are provided so you can check the latest official guidance.
Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bump to Baby is not responsible for loss or damage caused by relying on general website information instead of obtaining appropriate professional advice. Nothing on this page excludes or restricts liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or your statutory rights.
How we review health content
Our health information is based on recognised UK sources, including NHS and NICE guidance, and is reviewed through our midwife-led editorial process. We record sources, review material when official guidance changes and schedule a full review at least annually.
